The Agora CMS

As Agora is a completely Java based system it is does not depend on the used operating system. The import and export of the data is handled by using the open standard format XML. Also an export to structured PDF (bookmarks) is possible.

The Agora collection based on the description of the digital objects in XML format. The needed structure of elements and metadata is defined there - the Agora data model is completely open and does not show any hierarchical restrictions.

A special feature of Agora is the so called „Highlighting-in-Facsimile“. This method allows to OCR scanned pages and combine the output of the OCR with the coordinates of the founded text on the image. This information can be used to search in a fulltext manner and highlight the textsegment within the image.

News:
The extended Agora data model allows a more flexible description of a single page itself. It is now possible to divide a scanned image in different parts, as e. g. 'abstracts', 'illustration' or 'marginalia'.

The Agora Content Server allows to store digital objects in any file system, independently what kind of webserver or firewall is used.

The integration of the open source fulltext engine 'Lucene' allows very fast access to the objects, stored in the Agora repository. Lucene also supports Unicode (UTF-8).
