1.6 System requirements

Agora is not defined for a certain operating system, but certain components of the server environment are required. This includes:

• Java environment (as from version Jdk1.5)

• Web server (e.g. Apache)

• Installation of Tomcat (as from version 5.0)

• (optional: SQL database)

The following operating systems will be supported:

• Windows (e. g.: WINNT 4.0, Windows 2000 und Windows XP)

• Linux (e. g. RedHat as from version 8.x)

• Solaris (as from version 9.x)

The fundamental system resources such as harddrive space, processor speed and memory, are dependent upon the amount/size of the digital collections one would like to present – the possibilities are endless! The following minimum requirements should be on hand:

• free hard drive space: at least 350 MB

• processor speed: no less than a Pentium III Processor (or comparable processor of another brand)

• 256 MB RAM
